Venhill’s bespoke cable service is an affordable alternative to factory parts

Venhill report increased demand for their tailor-made clutch and throttle cables from motorcyclists opting to replace worn control cables with high quality British-manufactured items.
“We can make up lines to most requirements. Just send in a sample or a drawing of what is wanted,” explains John van der Hoff of Venhill. “Depending on the time of year we can usually turn things around in between 7-21 days. Payment can be done over the ‘phone when the job is finished so it’s pretty straightforward”.
Venhill developed their Featherlight cables as a performance upgrade on the original items, giving far better durability, control and feel, and all bespoke cables are produced to this specification. So for a price that, in many cases, will be comparable to a factory replacement clutch or throttle cable, riders get a marine grade stainless steel ‘rope’ inner for durability with a Teflon liner for smooth operation time after time. Handmade for a perfect fit.
Sample prices; single throttle £18.98, twin (push/pull) £37.95; clutch; £26.45.Call 01306 885111 or visit http://www.venhill.co.uk/

Peugeot Mega Watt Sound System for Speedfight 3

Peugeot has unveiled an innovative accessory for the new Speedfight 3 scooter, an integrated audio system that is the ultimate plug-and-go accessory. The Mega Watt MP3 connection kit enables any music fan to plug in their MP3 player and enjoy their favourite tunes while on the move.
Fitting neatly into the scooter’s under seat storage compartment, the Mega Watt MP3 connection kit includes an amplifier, control unit and 7-inch 30W sub woofer. Two further 20W speakers mount directly into the existing dummy air intakes on either side of the tail section, so no modification of the bodywork is necessary. Specifically designed for the new Speedfight 3, the system adds minimal weight to the machine and as it is mounted under the seat it is hidden from view and protected from damage. As an extra precaution all of the speakers are fully waterproof. The sound system can be used on the move or at rest, and is controlled via a handlebar mounted switch that is supplied with the kit. When not in use, the system can be unplugged from the Speedfight 3's integrated dual function 12V socket, allowing a charge point for an MP3 player or mobile phone. The Mega Watt MP3 connection kit is just the job for music on the move, and has a recommended retail price of only £287.50 including VAT.

Ventura Aerodynamic Bike-Pack for retro bikes

Fitting luggage on retro machines, like Triumph's Bonneville and Moto Guzzi's V7 Classic, can be challenging. There is always the risk of damaging paint and chrome-work or spoiling the cool, classic lines. Ventura bike racks are the solution to this problem and they produce a range suitable for modern classics, including this new option for the Moto Guzzi V7.
Light, stable and versatile, Ventura's aerodynamic luggage system offers huge carrying capability, whilst adding minimal weight to the machine. Mounting is easy as Ventura base the system around two discreet L-brackets - custom-made for each machine - and fitting the bag couldn't be easier or quicker; when luggage needs to be carried, simply slot the Pack Rack into the L-brackets and then slide the pack of choice onto the rack.
As the pack is positioned directly behind the rider, it offers excellent stability and does not add to machine width, allowing for easier filtering/parking and creates considerably less wind resistance than hard or soft panniers. The Bike Pack carries the luggage clear of exhausts and the rear wheel, and Ventura’s tailor-made rack system ensures the load will not shift, even during hard riding. The Pack may also be mounted behind the pillion seat, allowing two-up riding. When luggage is not required, the Pack and Rack can be removed in seconds and replaced with a Grab Handle (£19.99); offering a firm hold for the pillion and keeping the machine's lines clean and uncluttered, or a Sport Rack (£40.73); designed especially for transporting small loads.
Pack sizes vary from 35 to 102 litres, (depending on pack/combination); the 51-litre capacity Spada Pack (pictured) comes in black, red or blue at £99.20. The system pictured also features chrome L-brackets (standard items are black) at £112.50 and Pack-Rack (£59.28).

XENA disc lock is louder for longer

XENA have enhanced their high-performance XX14 disc lock alarm by fitting a lithium CR2 long-life battery as standard. Small lithium batteries can easily support the brief, heavy current demands of devices such as alarms and maintain a higher voltage for a longer period than traditional alkaline cells.
An additional benefit of the more powerful battery is that the volume of the alarm siren has been increased from 110db to 120db, which is approximately equivalent to a jet engine or a rock concert! The XX14 is self-arming, (i.e. it is armed/disarmed when the disc lock is locked/unlocked) and re-sets automatically to armed mode within 15 seconds. Shock and motion sensors trigger the anti-theft alarm, which is powered by the single Lithium battery.
The lock body has a high nickel-content stainless-steel mono-block construction and is secured with a 14mm double-locking, carbide-reinforced hardened-steel locking pin. It is tested and approved by leading organisations in the UK and overseas, including Thatcham, providing further reassurance of its security credentials.
The XENA XX14 is supplied with three high-security flat type keys and retails for £65- inc. VAT.

Hands free with TechMount

Riders can keep their essential electronic gadgets close to hand while on the move by fitting one TechMount’s unique range of accessory mounting systems. The American company has developed a line of mounting systems that can be fitted neatly and securely to steering stems, handlebars, mirrors or controls. Speciality adaptor plates are available to cradle GPS, radar detectors, mobile phones, MP3 players, cameras, etc.
Designed and manufactured in the USA, TechMount systems hold 13 U.S. and international patents. CNC-machined from 6061 Aluminum billet to tolerances as tight as ten-thousandths of an inch, they are anodised in a variety of colours so that they are not only protected from the elements but also can be matched to the bike’s finish. Each kit contains all of the tools required for a straightforward installation.
Owners can choose whichever mounting system best suits the design of their machine. Stem Mount systems fit snugly into the hole in the steering head of most sport bikes, utilising a series of O-rings that get progressively tighter as the mount is pushed into the hollow. Mirror Mounts are designed to thread into the un-used mirror mounting holes found on many motorcycles and the Control Mount attaches to handlebar control clamps on either the clutch or brake side, replacing the two factory pinch bolts with new stainless bolts and spacers. Handlebar mounts clamp directly onto round handlebars without damaging the bar and require just 1/2" of bar space.
All systems allow for a wide range of movement and mounting angles. Prices for mount kits start at £67.59 including VAT and adaptor plates cost between £4.66 - £33.76.
TechMount is available in the UK exclusively through Motohaus Powersports on 01256 704909 or visit http://www.motohaus.com/

S Doc100 Paint and Plastic Polish

Sdoc100 Power Gel has built a reputation as one of the best bike cleaning products available – it’s Germany’s No.1 – and their new Paint and Plastic Polish follows the successful formula for creating a product that is perfect for the specific requirements of motorcyclists.
Specially formulated for motorcycle bodywork, the solvent-free polish will not attack decals but produces a deep gloss finish on all smooth surfaces, such as painted metal parts (including multicolour and metallic paints). Sdoc Paint and Plastic Polish will also revitalise weathered paintwork, plastics, acrylic screens and can even be used on visors (although not mirrored ones).
Easy to apply, Sdoc Polish seals polished surfaces with integrated wax components, removing fine scratches, such as those caused by knees rubbing on fuel tanks, creating a water-repellent coat, which in turn helps the bike to stay cleaner for longer.
Sdoc polish is also economical – simply apply the cream sparingly with a soft cloth, leave for a few moments to dry and buff off with a clean cloth for the ultimate finish.
Priced at £9.99 Including VAT at 15%. If it doesn't say Sdoc100 it isn't from Germany’s No1…

Ladies Day at Superbike School

For the first time since the UK arm of the Superbike school opened in 1996, it will offer an exclusively female session for riders looking to experience Level One coaching.
Andy Ibbott UK School Director; "We ran a 'Ladies only' day in South Africa earlier this year, which was hugely successful, and we have had calls for similar here in the UK. Around 10% of students who attend our schools are female, but there are many more out there who would like training but feel intimidated by a track environment with guys out there."
Running at Silverstone's Stowe circuit, California Superbike Schools are dedicated to discovering, improving and refining the art of cornering and are appropriate for all riding, whether on road or track. During Level One riders learn the key skills required to maximise stability when cornering. There are 21 places available at a cost of £342 per person for students riding their own bikes and Yamaha R6 bike hire is available at a cost of £229 for the day.

Helmet theft survey

We know that many riders lock their helmets to their bikes while parked. However, we don't know how many helmets are stolen from parked motorcycles. There is a significant amount of anecdotal evidence that this problem is widespread and UK riders are being asked to help establish the facts by answering this simple survey.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=qW5rPH7wt7vicKKBVzixNA_3d_3d

The survey takes less than a minute to complete and everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a free prize draw to win a LidSafe secure helmet bag worth £45.
